John Deere 7710 oli osa vuonna 1996 esiteltyä 7010-sarjaa, joka saapui Eurooppaan vuonna 1997. Traktori oli varustettu 8,1-litraisella kuusisylinterisellä turbomoottorilla, joka tuotti vaikuttavan 802 Nm:n väännön 1400 kierroksella. Vuoden 2001 mallissa tehoa oli 160 hevosvoimaa, joka lisätehon kanssa nousi 174 hevosvoimaan.
Traktorissa oli valittavana kaksi vaihteistovaihtoehtoa: PowerQuad 20+20 tai Powershift 19+7. Myöhemmin saataville tuli myös portaaton AutoPowr-vaihteisto. Merkittäviä ominaisuuksia olivat 102 litran hydrauliikan tuotto ja 8150 kilon nostovoima. Vakiovarusteinen päisteautomatiikka ja lisävarusteena saatava jousitettu etuakseli paransivat käyttömukavuutta.
Ohjaamo oli ergonomisesti suunniteltu, ja sen 72 desibelin melutaso oli aikansa huippuluokkaa. Vakiovarusteisiin kuuluivat ilmajousitettu istuin, ilmastointi ja ajotietokone. 344 litran polttoainesäiliö mahdollisti pitkät työpäivät. Traktorin 6800 kilon paino ja 20.8R38 takarenkaat takasivat erinomaisen vetovoiman. Vuoden 2001 päivityksessä traktori sai myös mahdollisuuden 50 km/h huippunopeuteen ja AutoQuad-toiminnon.
